hellooooo. my issues with the tenth doc are everything to do with the writing and nothing to do with David. I’ve talked about this quite a lot, mostly in relation to martha jones and mickey smith (just check my tags for mickey and martha) , but the tenth doctor was written in a really racist way. the empathy gap between how the tenth doctor treated white companions vs Black companions was blatant antiblackness, and was appalling then and is even worse to look back on now. Even if that wasn’t the case, I can’t fucking stand how his whole personality was not being able to get over a crush on a TEENAGER !!! dude was a 904 year old war criminal, refusing to leave this 19 year old blonde girl who was straight outta high school alone for her frontal cortex to develop. I find the tenth doctor an utterly shit dude who’s only saving grace is that he’s played by dt. he used to be my least favourite doctor until 13 aka “gonna hand the master (who is brown) off to the nazis as a heroic move” whittaker came along and blew the tenth doctors racism outta the water, but nothing let’s how rtd wrote ten off the hook for me. It’s why I didn’t want rtd to come back and especially didn’t want him writing for a Black doctor. But here we are so I can only hope he does better.
